New Strange Love

When Ben and I got married we got a couple of gift cards to Walmart.  After taking stock in what we had, five knife sets and 40 or so towels, we decided we needed to buy a vacuum.  We spent most of those gift certificates on an 80 dollar vacuum and it has done us a good job.  Until a couple of months ago.

I liked my old vacuum, or so I thought.  I knew how to do everything with it.  Take it apart, fix it, and even put it back together again.  When it stopped picking up things and started making the room smell of vomit when using it I stopped using it.  Did I tell Ben I stopped using it?  No, I just started using our shop vac.  It was bulky but the boys thought it was funner since it blew out as much air as it sucked in and they would stand in front of that moving air just a laughing.

I hadn't put it back in the garage by the time Ben got home one day.  Well he found out about our trusty old vacuum and decided we needed a new one.  I thought okay, we will get one eventually (the shop vac is working just fine).  A couple of hours latter we were in Walmart once again.  I didn't realize it but he had done his research and new the exact vacuum he wanted.

I love our new 'shark' vacuum.  It is light enough that the boys can vacuum by themselves, unlike the old one.  It is also quieter than the old one.  Quiet enough to not scare the baby, love that.  It is purple.  It picks up more stuff.

This brings me to a strange love of mine.  I love to vacuum!  It is my favorite cleaning aid.  I love the way a room looks after it is freshly vacuumed.  I love that if you do nothing else but vacuum your house is fairly clean, because you have to pick of the floor as you do it.  I love that you can't do anything else while you are vacuuming (besides hold a baby but you can hold a baby doing anything).  I love the white noise and the time it gives you to think.

I love vacuuming and vacuum probably more things than a normal person.  I vacuum my living room at least once a day, along with the couch.  I vacuum the kitchen and bathroom floors.  I vacuum the kitchen chairs, cupboards, and have even vacuumed the kitchen table.   I have vacuumed the walls, doors and ceilings.  I vacuum the washer and dryer.

I vacuum the boys' beds, their toys and yes I even vacuum the boys themselves.  After they spend time in the dirt I will bust out the vacuum upon them coming into the house and hose them down (it is funny to vacuum dirt out of their hair).

It makes wonder if other people have a cleaning aid they love?

I'll tell you what's strange -- this might be my favorite post of all time on your blog.

I was laughing so hard as I imagined you vacuuming everything you could get your hands on. Especially your children. Ha.

I hate vacuuming, and I think it's mostly because our vacuum is really hard to push. Maybe Santa will bring me a Shark for Christmas.

Y'all come back now!
