Thud in the night, and day too.

Yesterday while I was talking to Ben in the living room I heard a loud thud.  The noise was similar to the one of the many noises that wakes me up at night, pulling me into the boys' room.  In the middle of the night after the loud thud I usually find Austen on the ground, sometimes asleep, sometimes awake and a little sad.  (He sleeps on the top bunk)

When I heard the thud during the day I stopped talking and listened for weeping, or wailing, or even nashing of teeth.  I heard nothing remotely resembling those noises.  I heard giggling afterwards so I naturally thought everything was fine and went about my conversation.  After several thuds Ben said 'What is going on?'  I replied, 'Well it sounds like they are jumping off the high bed.'  He decided that he should investigate.

The boys were climbing up to the high bed, standing at the edge for a while, building up the courage to actually take the leap, and then jumping off with a THUD!  This was immediately followed by laughter from the boy NOT jumping.  The jumper after realizing he was okay started laughing too.

Did I stop the possibly arm breaking activity?  No.  Did Ben?  No.  Instead he showed them how to make a pile to land in, for safety and I took their pictures.

I can't believe Dirk was brave enough to jump off, too. Your boys are getting so big. I love all this blogging from you guys!

I remember doing this when I was little! So fun. But not as little as Dirk. So props to him for being so brave. Or dumb. ;) Just kidding. Miss your kids. Come visit!

That takes me back to when Ben and Jeff used to try tricks like this! The boys are so cute and big! I am glad Ben helped them make a soft landing...

Y'all come back now!
