We went camping this October and had a chilly fun time.
The big fire kept us warm but when it rained we high tailed it into the tent. The tent is definitely a ten when it comes to tents. It comes from David and Mary who used it when Ben was a baby and they got it from Helen and Austen. I am not sure where they got it from but my guess is they were the first owners of it. It worked great at keeping us dry.
I broke the zipper at night when everyone was in bed coming back in from using the restroom. Like I said earlier it rained for a couple of hours but we played shadow puppets in the tent. After a couple of hours of sleep the baby woke up and we brought him into our sleeping bag to keep him warm. Shortly after that Dirk had a come apart and we thought he was cold so we brought him also into our sleeping bag, that wasn't the brightest idea I have had. He was terrible and only wanted to sleep under and over my head, at the same time mind you, and would have nothing to do with anyone else. After a while of fighting him then him waking up the baby then not being where he wanted we put him back in his bed. The rest of the night was better.
I will say this for camping with babies - you get less sleep.
Austen and Dirk ate a whole bag of marshmallows between the two of them.
Axton tried to eat the yellow leaves but never quite succeeded. He also was very interested in the fire. He was really fun to watch in the camping scene.
Ben took both boys on several motorcycle rides.
In the morning we packed up and went and found a geocache. We ended up hiking up a hill less than a quarter of a mile and with three babies in tow it seemed a lot longer.
It is most likely the last camping for us in 2011.

I can't believe your baby is 6 months!
That looks fun! I kind of gave up on camping for the time being. Maybe someday I will pick it up again.
One bag of marshmallows... how many hot dogs?
